The city and its neighbouring areas are predominantly inhabited by the Basoga tribe, an indigenous tribe in Uganda that belongs to the Bantu ethnicity. However, given the industrial orientation of the city, fractions of other tribes such as Bagisu, Baganda, Itesots, Japadhola, Indians can be spotted across the city.
The weather is generally characterized by the dry and rainy seasons with temperatures usually ranging between 25°C – 30°C. The dry and rainy seasons offer the perfect balance for tourism activities like adventure expos, multi-day festivals such as the Nyege Nyege festival and other economic activities such as farming and hydro-power generation.
