Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s leading tourism spectacle, the vast plains represent Africa’s true wilderness with more than 500 birds species and over 100 mammals species roaming the land including the big five i.e. lions, buffaloes, leopards, elephants and rhinos.
Serengeti National Park was established in 1940 covering 14,763 sq km and the predominantly native people of the region are the Masai. In present day, Serengeti National Park is famously visited for the great migration where millions of Wildebeests and Zebras among other antelopes migrate in search of greener pastures following the rains into Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. Thousands of tourists visit the Mara river between June and September to witness the river crossing.
